Junior Seau
Rest in peace Junior Seau.
I feel really sad about his passing away today. Which is surprising because really, what did this professional football player have anything to do with me?
I remember when I was growing up, my brother and I were fascinated with playing sports and professional athletes. And we were really into Seau. He was a really good player and was featured on a couple of football...

It is frustrating to stop and maybe even take a few steps back when all you want to do is just keep walking forward and build that momentum. But maybe standstills and setbacks are there so that we can collect ourselves and accelerate into an even greater leap ahead.
Yesterday, Pastor Roger talked about having faith and trust in God in our lives. There’s two parts that make trust hard: 1. Courage to make the decision and execute and 2. Strength to continue. the analogy that came to my mind is of one entering the ocean.
At first, the beach is really hot but the ocean is even colder and I don’t want to go in. But I take that step anyways and ocean...

For me, spring break has quietly slipped by. Another weeklong break where the duration is too short to justify the financial and time cost of making a trip back to California.
It’s weird seeing my brothers grow up in snapshots spaced 6 months apart. And in between, Joshua is out doing something amazing and Gabriel is growing another two inches.
I kind of wish I could see my parents grow...

– Jared Jeffries told Jeremy Lin. … Lin shook off a shaky three quarters in Philadelphia to bounce back with 16 points in the fourth, helping the Knicks earn a hard-fought 82-79 win. - ESPN (via sportsnetny)
Another day, another great Jared Jefferies quote.

Gabriel has high standards for Jeremy

India's Mindblowing Well Of Death
all-thats-interesting:
Officially dubbed the Mauth Ka Kuan or “Well of Death,” brave, daring, or simply foolish Indians from across the country ride their motorcycles along a vertical wall at great speeds. Never mind the potentially fatal outcomes; these participants, generally lacking helmets, inhibition and the use of their hands while riding have recently added cars to their death defying...
Jeremy Lin Gives the Credit to God →
The Bandwagon
The amount of posts regarding Jeremy Lin in these past two days is crazy.
Look at all the hoopla (BOOM. PUN INTENDED). There are people who I didn’t know follow sports that are cheering for him in this two day explosion of media relevance.
Nerds love him because he went to Harvard. Asians love him because he’s Taiwanese. Sports fans love him because he’s looking like a good...
Scramble with Friends
So my friend Brian introduced me to this game called Scramble with Friends, and it’s been pretty addicting. It has the elements of a really fun game: simple idea, competition with friends, good challenge, and that bit of luck that makes me come back for more.
I’m so bad at it. I’ve lost almost every single one of my games, and it hasn’t been close. It’s just a four...

My friend and future roommate Josh and a bit of his testimony, which is just as refreshing and bold as he is in real life. His blog is here: http://quietinglove.blogspot.com/
Brief background: I was raised in a Christian household, said the sinner’s prayer, all that jazz. But I never really knew God - Jesus Christ. I just knew what to say, and when to say it. I could totally...
This morning, I had an 8 am flight from SFO to Washington Dulles Airport. However, ten minutes after liftoff, there was some cabin pressure/whatever malfunction and the pilot couldn’t continue and flew back into SFO. In the end, everyone had to come off the plane and reboard another one. This whole thing took like three hours before we were finally up in the air. The whole time I was passed...
Gabriel's Writing Homework
This is his fiction story. He asked me to edit it and now wants it published on tumblr.
The shopping mall was crowded with people everywhere. I saw little kids falling down and crying for their moms, like this, “Mommy, mommy!!” I was paralyzed in fear when I realized my own mom was missing. I smelled the fresh aroma of soft pretzels all around me. Suddenly, this ugly beggar that...
2012!
A few days ago, I went out at night by myself and sat on a plastic chair in front of the rolling waves of Cancún. It was really peaceful to sit alone and think about 2011 that I just lived out and 2012 that’s just ahead.
I think my New Year’s Resolution for 2012 will be to give more.
I feel like I was so selfish and focused a great deal on myself this past year, and I’m...

thanksgiving
samji:
The more I think about it, the more ironic Thanksgiving gets.
People all sit down at a dinner table, and then give thanks to everything they have in their lives.
Then they wake up in the wee hours of the next morning and blow out their wallets on new clothes, new shoes, new computers, and more new clothes. As if to say, “my life yesterday wasn’t that great; I need more new things to...
Tebow
I caught the second half of the Denver Broncos vs New York Jets football game tonight just to watch Tim Tebow play. It was a thrilling game, with Tebow scoring the game winning touchdown.
What most amazes me about him isn’t just that he’s a very good and unique player, but because he’s a prominent Christian athlete playing professional sports. It’s been pretty well...

And so it goes on.
One evening last week, I was in the shower. And out of the blue, I realized that I didn’t have a good reason why I wanted to be a doctor. Medical school sounded so unappealing. I was pretty disgusted with myself.
Saving people’s lives sounds great, but the other Hopkins pre-meds want to do that, too. I didn’t have a personal reason for becoming a doctor, a purpose that I...

Far East Movement came to our school tonight. They were really good. After the concert, they were signing autographs and thanking everyone for coming out. James Roh complimented my shirt. What a nice bunch of people.

“Do not awaken or arouse love until it so desires.” Song of Songs
As a Christian teenager who attends church and grew up in a stable home, one of the most common things I hear from adults is to save sex for marriage. When I went through the little purity course, I made up my mind to save my first kiss as well. I’ve stayed true so far, and generally have made...

I wrote a short story for my Fiction and Poetry class. I’ve never written fiction before, but I really liked how this one turned out.
